Why do you need impound insurance?

If your vehicle has been seized by the police (for being driven without insurance or the driver not having an appropriate driving licence, for example) then your vehicle will be held at a police compound.

To free your vehicle you need an insurance policy that explicitly permits the release of a vehicle from a police compound.

Some motor vehicle insurance policies may not permit the release of the vehicle from a police compound in their limitations of use.
